Ranked 2.0

Ranked 2.0

Ranked 2.0 is coming to Paladins! In the recent Dev Talk with HiRezMartini and HiRezJuJu, the Paladins community was able to get a first insight into the upcoming ranked changes. Here is all you need to know to be fully prepared:

Ranked 2.0 is coming with OB56. That’s right, the new competitive system will most likely be out next week.

The system changes feature a hard reset. This means a fresh start for everyone, as all matches and ranks prior to 2.0 won’t have any influence on your new achieved rank.

As previously, players will be placed into different tiers. 2.0 will feature 7 tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster). New to this are the tier divisions, as each tier consists of 5 divisions. After 15 Qualifying Matches, you will be placed into your proper tier & division. From there on, you will gain Triumph Points (TP) with each win or lose some with each loss. Once you reached 100 TP, you will have to win your next match to be promoted to the next division. You promote to the next tier after you fought yourself through all five tier divisions.

To protect you from an instant demotion out of your fresh achieved tier, you will be protected from any tier demotion for the following five matches. You are only able to demote if you have 0 TP (demotion match).

Leaving us with Ranked 2.0 are the competitive Champion Ranks. Instead of individual champion performance ratings, you will now be rated on your general account performance. To keep players challenged and active, Ranked 2.0 will also feature a Rank Decay. If you’re not competitively active for a while, your TP will start to decrease and may demote you to a lower division or even tier. This system will be introduced to prevent rank-camping and to insure an active leaderboard.

Another change for newer players is the elimination of the Champion Mastery requirement for competitive matches. You are no longer forced to own a set amount of Champion Masteries to be able to play Ranked.

Parties can now queue up with up to 5 members if the members are placed between Bronze and Platinum. Players from Diamond and above can only queue alone or with a friend (Duo queue).

Ranked 2.0 will also come with awesome rewards for active and successful players, but also for those who just give the system a try:

  • Free Champions Chest after Qualification (15 matches).
  • Weapon Chest for 25 played competitive matches.
  • Epic Drogoz Set for any player who reached Gold 5 or above.
  • Epic Drogoz Weapon for 100 won competitive matches.
  • Exclusive Title “Forged in Battle” for 200 won competitive matches.
  • Possible crystal rewards for top players of Master and Grandmaster (unclear yet).

More previews and information on the upcoming Competitive System will be presented in the Patch Notes Preview for OB56 on Friday 1pm EDT on

So happy about the hard reset, been looking forward to it for ages. All of the changes seem positive and the decay will give people an incentive to keep coming back for more. Good stuff all round

Finally the hard reset and new system! 😉
I have a question, about the second reward. For example I got my first free weapon chest, can I get another after 25 wins or the rewards is for once per account or something like that?

Players from Diamond and above can only queue alone or with a friend (Duo queue).

This is bullshit.. Obviously we are going to get diamond easy af and then we are stuck to duo queue again… Duo queue is why most of my friends quit paladins. Only bot players can enjoy playing in teams.. Nice one HiRez!…

Stupid HiRez letting noob players play in 5 man teams but no love for the better players…

They only let people in Bronze-Platinum play with 5 man stacks because they are bad players themselves… 2 Man comp is boring af… So please enjoy the smurfing in lower ranks because you wont let me play 5man in my own rank 🙂

Excllent, no level requirement for ranked means every johnny-come-lately will get to instapick Willo after having played 0 games, smart.

The individual champ frames were the one thing this game did right without others doing it beforehand.
