Welcome back for the last time, the EU Regional Recap for the grand finale. All 5 weeks would be required to decide seeding going into LAN, Europe has been close since the opening bell, and would remain so until closing time.
Match 1: Ninjas in Pyjamas vs Virtus Pro
Ninjas in Pyjamas vs Virtus Pro would take us out of the gate today. Games 1 and 2 were both 4-0s, but they each fell different ways, forcing a game 3 on Frog Isle. Both teams pulled out drafts that were slightly unconventional. Perdo was able to get Kinessa, something we haven’t seen from him in some time, and frankly something I have no recent memories of seeing. But we know Kinessa can work on Frog Isle, and it certainly did for NIP. Though the closest game of the set, NIP would grab a W here 4-2.
Match 2: Fnatic vs Ninjas in Pyjamas
Up next we had the privilege of viewing one of the marquee european matchups. Fnatic Vs Ninjas in Pyjamas. These games are always so close! A 4-3 NIP victory. Fnatic battle back for a 4-2 on frozen guard, where else could this set go, but the distance. Jaguar falls would decide the set, NIP piloting their famous triple tank draft, and Fnatic piloting what is becoming their patented 3 dps composition! This one would come down to the wire, a few split hairs falling the way of Fnatic would earn them a hard earned victory.
Match 3: Virtus Pro vs Mousesports
Virtus pro and mousesports was thought to be the battle for the bottom as we entered the PPL, but you have to give Virtus Pro a lot of credit for improving individually and as a roster. They’ve taken games off top teams at this point and as a result, wouldn’t meet much resistance against Mousesports. VP take the set 2-0
Match 4: Natus Vincere vs Mousesports
Na’vi and mousesports would bring us home in the final scheduled matchup for Europe. I say scheduled, but Na’vi taking a quick 2-0 over mousesports and would force a tiebreaker with NIP to decided 2nd seed in Europe!
Tiebreaker! Ninjas in Pyjamas vs Natus Vincere!
The tiebreaker would come down to the wire, both teams refusing to let 2nd seed go without a fight. A 3-3, with 3 or 4 fully fledged teamfights before the dust settled. And when it did, the boys in beige and black would be left standing. Ninjas in Pyjamas would secure 2nd seed for the upcoming LAN.
The Final standings in Europe are as follows.
Ninjas in Pyjamas: 6w-3L
Natus Vincere: 5W-4L
Virtus Pro: 4W-4L
Details for the upcoming EU/NA Qualifying LAN will be announced soon, both here, and on our other social media channels!
